Community Health Nursing

A community health nurse focuses not only on helping individuals but also on increasing positive outcomes for an entire group. For community health nurses to make a difference, they have to understand the needs of a society’s inhabitants. They may do this by following a systematic process, which includes the following:

• Assessing the needs of the community.
• Exhibiting awareness and sensitivity to a community’s cultural, religious, political and socioeconomic makeup.
• Pinpointing available resources.
• Coordinating healthcare.
• Applying current scientific research to healthcare.
Medical Surgical Nursing

Medical-surgical nurses provide care to adults with a variety of medical issues or who are preparing for/recovering from surgery. They have a broad knowledge base and are experts in their practice. Medical-surgical nurses have advanced organizational, prioritization, assessment and communication skills and are leaders in coordinating care among the professional health care team.

Medical-surgical nursing is practiced in several settings across the health care industry, including hospitals, outpatient settings, in homes, via telemedicine and other non-traditional settings. The specialty of medical-surgical nursing is seen in almost every care environment
Paediatric Nursing

Paediatric nursing is the medical care of children, from infancy to the teenage years. This is an important field because the health of children is distinct from that of adults due to the growth and development that occurs throughout childhood. Paediatric nurses usually work in a multidisciplinary team with other health professionals to provide the best medical care possible for children. They play an important role to monitor the health of young patients and provide care and support throughout their treatment.

They may administer childhood vaccinations or immunizations and make sure that children keep up to date with their vaccination schedule. Additionally, a paediatric nurse communicates with the children and their families to explain their health and the phases of treatment.

A paediatric nurse may be involved in teaching and administration of children’s health, either to the community or other health professionals. They can also help to conduct clinical research about health conditions that commonly affect children and the appropriate treatment methods.
